Water is delicious. Everyone needs it. But has anyone ever wondered what the benefits to drinking a lot of water daily are? I’m talking over 6 litres of water per day.
Back in high school, I was 185 pounds, I was on the track and field team, the football team, and I was a boxer. 10 years later I ballooned to 340 pounds. I had become a professional napper, and worked an office job where all I do is sit all day. The thing that saved my life was water.
I used to work 12 hour shifts transferring patients to hospitals and retirement homes. I developed a reputation as being a work robot because I would go the entire 12 hours with no food, water, or breaks. I remember, after work, I would go to the washroom and my pee would be dark yellow. I knew I had to make major lifestyle changes. What shocked me was how big of a difference upping my water intake had on my weight.
Last year, I started bringing 5 liters of water to my office job and taking multi vitamins every day. The multivitamin I take is called Animal Pak. Here’s what happened when I started drinking this much water at work. My headaches stopped, my head is very sensitive to perfume/cologne, pretty much any strong smell. I used to get seasonal migraines every winter where for a 2 month span I would get one migraine per day. However, drinking this much water completely stopped all my headaches. Even if I don’t get much sleep I still don’t get any headaches or migraines anymore. Water did this!
My weight dropped significantly. This is because water can increase satiety and boost your metabolic rate. In my case, I love food and eat a lot. I found drinking copious amounts of water 30 minutes before my meals helped stop me from over eating. Here’s the thing, I found even when I would eat a lot of food in one day I wasn’t gaining any weight. My metabolism had gotten faster and stronger. Combined with the multivitamins I was taking I found myself digesting my food very quickly. My lunch normally consists of a measly bowl of chopped carrots, an orange or apple, a juice box, and a meal of chicken and potatoes. Before my water journey this meal would be devoured during the first hour of my shift and I’d be ordering Uber eats by lunch time. Now, I still devour my lunch in the first hour of my shift, but I can last the rest of the day snacking on carrots and oranges. Water did this!
Hydration. By always remaining hydrated, at all times of the day and night, my skin started to become more clear. On top of that, my blood pressure dropped and my energy at work increased. I used to come to work at 6am exhausted. By 6:30am I was taking my morning nap. I didn’t drink any coffee, tea, energy drinks, or soda. So, I would come to work and try to stay awake purely on my own energy, I would fail most days. However, since I’m always hydrated nowadays I find myself full of energy, and cannot remember the last time I fell asleep at work. Water did this!
To conclude, water is good! Remember to drink lots of it, you might end up going to the washroom more, but if you take Animal Pak multivitamin your pee will turn green, which is a pretty cool side effect when you think about it. In all seriousness, drinking more water can result in weight loss, less headaches, more energy, a faster metabolism, and clear skin.
